Warhols friend George Plimpton said, What always struck me about Andy was how ill-suited he was for success pasty-faced, a white wig, fragile, a body crisscrossed with scars from an assassination attempt, gay, shy, faltering of speech, nonassertive, so unsure of himself that in 1967 he sent an impersonator on a Warhol lecture tour.
